Job Description for Customer Service Manager

Osborne's Customer Service Manager is involved in all stages of customer projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain customer records in Goldmine CRM database.
  • Manage customer service and related sales support tasks including: responding to new inquiries, processing orders, and limited technical research to help solve customer challenges.
  • Identify and document customer needs, expectations and priorities.
  • Work closely with engineering team to create and deliver well organized project proposals.
  • Manage other customer oriented responsibilities as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years college education
  • Minimum 2-3 years of sales or customer service experience in a technical environment
  • Exceptional phone and email communication skills
  • Proven success in identifying customer needs and desire to solve customer problems
  • Self-motivated and productive working as part of a technical team
  • Well organized and detail oriented

Job Description for Light Electrical Assembler:

You will be involved in many stages of the production of hand crafted electromagnetic components.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hand assembly of electrical devices
  • Coil winding (heavy and fine wire sizes)
  • Soldering
  • Core assembly (stacking magnetic steel laminations)
  • Lead Finishing
  • Operating electrical test equipment
  • Packaging products for shipment
  • General maintenance of workspace and equipment
  • Impregnating devices with potting compounds
  • Painting components
  • Light fabrication work with various materials
  • Low volume data entry

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with hands
  • Verbal and written English skills
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated
  • Basic familiarity with ISO quality management systems
  • Able to work both independently and in a team
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to read industrial measuring tools including 12" scale, caliper, and micrometer
  • Must have at least high school level understanding of mathematics including the ability to work with fractions and decimals

You enjoy working with your hands, and aren't afraid to get them dirty. You have personal integrity and it's evidenced by your honesty, dependability, and ease in working with others. You are willing to learn new skills, whether that means learning to drive a forklift, or learning to document assembly techniques in our wiki-based knowledge management software. You enjoy the process and practice of doing things to the best of your ability, and getting better over time.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, you will be infrequently exposed to outside weather conditions
  • The noise level in our facility is usually low to moderate

  • You may be occasionally required to move heavy objects using a hoist, a hand truck, or a forklift

Job Description for Technical Writer

This position is an excellent opportunity for a person who is excited to learn about the world of custom transformers. The technical writer works with Osborne's engineering and online management teams to research and produce original content for Osbornetransformer.com.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create 2-3 pieces per week on topics related to custom transformers, electrical engineering, energy efficient industrial technologies, and other specific topics of interest to Osborne's community of website users.
  • Collaborate with Osborne's team to identify appropriate content topics.
  • Conduct self-guided topic specific research using a variety of digital and print resources.
  • Work with Osborne's engineering team and clients to document success stories and important lessons learned.
  • Other project related responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years College education, and 1 year of technical research/writing experience.
  • Technical familiarity with electrical products and principles of electrical engineering preferred.
  • Desire to help us build the most useful online resource we can imagine.
  • Highly web literate and familiar with the world of blogs, wikis, and other online communities.
  • Digital photography and Photoshop/InDesign skills a plus.
  • Movable Type skills a plus.

This position will be located at our Clinton Township, Michigan facility. Compensation and terms are negotiable based on the quantity and quality of content that you can help us create.
