DC Filter Inductors

Osborne recommends DC filter chokes for use in AC to DC conversion circuits to present an inductive voltage drop (filter) to the AC component of rectified current. Osborne designs these components to function effectively (without saturation) in the presence of the DC current. Osborne also encourages all clients to consider the impact of ripple frequency. With every DC filter choke design, Osborne will identify and analyze ripple frequency through calculations using the frequency of the supply and the conversion configuration.
